Stop me if you’ve heard this before.
The Blue Jays had a 1-run lead going into the 8th inning against a divisional rival, and gave up 2 in the 8th, eventually losing 5-4.
Is this a f***ing recording? Are you kidding me with this team??
It’s almost comical how they have to lose every game in the most painful way possible.
Ugh.
Let’s break it down I guess.
I’m upset
You know what? Nah
I don’t feel like diving into another bullpen meltdown, so I’ll use some tweets to summarize how I’m feeling about this team at the moment.
Some Final Thoughts
I don’t understand how a team this good so consistently blows games late in the most spectacular ways possible.
One of the worst parts of this was the double hit by Teoscar Hernandez in the top of the 8th. He hit it 415 feet to dead centre field into the triangle at Fenway Park. The ESPN broadcast said that’s a home run in 25 of 30 ballparks. If the Jays are playing almost anywhere else, the game is tied going into the 9th. It’s anybody’s game at that point.
Screw Fenway Park.
I’m so frustrated, deflated, and tired of watching this team blow leads in the exact same way every single night.
Why can’t they be like the Mariners? A team so obviously over-performing, but a team that also performs when it really matters. They may not dominate anybody, but they find a way to win, and that’s why they’re ahead of the Jays right now.
I’m trying to think of something positive to say, but I’m coming up empty.
I’ve kept convincing myself that this team is better than their record suggests since every single stat outside of their record suggests they are.
Unfortunately, until the Jays start winning these 1-run games, and their bullpen learns how to hold a lead, I’m not expecting them to be a post-season team this year.
I hope they can prove me wrong.
